My name is Dane Gorris and I am sole owner/operator and principal guide at Grand River Fishing Company. My experience guiding stems from my time spent on the rivers and oceans surrounding the Kenai Peninsula in southcentral Alaska. From the age of 16 to 25 I have guided on the Kenai and its surrounding waters for salmon, trout, steelhead, and halibut. From a young age I was fortunate enough to be able to pursue what I truly love, fishing, and gain an unparalleled sense of what goes into excellent fishing charters. I met many wonderful people in Alaska that showed me the true meaning of a professional guide service and I hope to take what I have learned there and bring it here to my home state of Michigan.
I earned my B.S. from Grand Valley State University in Natural Resources Management and Biology in 2015 and the Grand River Fishing Company transpired not long after. Throughout my high school, and especially college years, I grew to appreciate all of Michigan's various fisheries more and more, especially its salmon and steelhead.
I look forward to meeting both new clients and old friends as I continue to grow GRFC and invite any input from my clients as to how I can give YOU the best experience possible.
My personal goal at Grand River Fishing Company is to provide an unmatched western Michigan coastal charter fishing experience, as well as provide my clientele with the know-how and gear to catch some magnificent Michigan fish, and finally, to enjoy and conserve our river ecosystems for generations to come. With anadramous fish stocks changing continually across the state it is important to consider what fish we are keeping or releasing, especially on certain river systems, in order to maintain the quality fisheries Michigan is known for across the state-- and the lower 48.
